lastnameblack
Even though he has a life long love affair with music and a decades long passion for electronic music, it was later in life that he discovered the beautiful 4/4 beat. Instantaneously won over by the merging of his two main loves in life, music and technology, techno and hard house were the obvious genres to first inspire him. Over the past 6 years these original tastes have grown and diversified to include ever conceivable style of techno; electro; jazz, disco and deep house; tech-trance and trance; a dabbling of breaks, and almost anything with the prefix of “tech”. Never playing the same set twice, lastnameblack’s sets include a wide range of styles and genres. Even with this variety of sound, the backbone of his music is techno and tribal beats. Layered drum patterns are a constant in the mix, as are bongos, toms and almost anything else percussive in nature. This pounding percussion rhythm is backed by warm synth lines, thick n' funky electro basslines, haunting vocal/choral stabs and samples used to create an overall uplifting feeling to mood. A lastnameblack set is defined by the essentials of DJing – tight, long mixes, proper track selection and a set progression that takes the dancer/listener on an ever-increasingly furious ride.
